Blackjack
Blackjack, or 21 as it is often known is one of the most popular games played in casinos.
It can be played with a single deck or multiple decks and has many variations including Pontoon, Spanish 21, Blackjack Switch, Perfect Pairs and Vegas Strip.
The rules of Blackjack are simple, two cards are initially dealt to the player and the player can either hit – draw another card or cards, or stand. The idea is to get as close to 21 as possible whilst beating the dealers hand. Some games offer the chance for a player to double down – double the initial bet in return for agreeing to stand after they are dealt just one card, or split starting pairs into two hands. . In Blackjack, aces count as either 1 or 11, face cards as 10, and number cards at their face value.

Basic Blackjack Strategy
* Always split Aces, except when the dealer is showing an Ace
* Do not split a pair of 5s
* Stand on a hard 13 through to 16 if the dealer is showing a 6 or lower
* If the dealer is showing a 4,5 or 6 you should stick on 12
* You should always continue to hit until you have 17 or better if the dealer is showing a ten
* Always stand once you have a hard 17 or higher. The odds of you not busting are far too low for it to be worth the risk
* Always stand when you have A-8 or A-9 |
